Most of us our pet lovers, and though we can do anything for them, we just hate getting out of that cozy couch when they ask to open the door. You can make life easier for the both of you by installing a doggie door in through a wall. A dog door comprises of an aluminum frame with a flap or door within it to seal out the outside. These doors can be bought from pet stores and installed by a carpenter, or by yourself if you want to save some money.
The dog door can be added to an exterior door, or it can be installed in a wall. Since dogs do not enjoy the flap doors through a house door. We recommend adding the pet door through a wall. These doors can be installed in cement, brick, stud, or block walls. But installing a door through a wall is trickier than installing one through a door, as it is difficult to make a hole in the wall for the small door.
This is a guide on installing a doggie door in a wall by yourself:

Instructions
- Find the location of where the door will be installed. The wall you choose should lead them outside freely.
- Take the size of the pet door and mark the wall with a pencil to see how it will fit. You should install the pet door at a distance from the floor to the top of where the passage opening will be. It must be a few inches above the floor as the pet won’t be crawling through the door. Measure three inches above the bottom rail of the door or the bottom plate of the wall it will be installed in. Use the pencil to mark the door dimensions.
- Cut through the mark with the straightedge and use the level to stay horizontal. With a carpenter’s square make a rectangle.
- Drill a hole from the outside of the wall (to keep your home clean), and go over the rectangular shape you have drawn. Cut with the saw after drilling four holes.
- construct the frame for the door that will be given with the door you purchase from the pet’s store. Screw the frame in.
- Spread silicon caulk over the door, and fit it in the hole you have made. Fit he first piece and then the next. piece of the door.
- Add the clamps to the door to hold it firmly till the caulk dries.
