Ribs are my most favorite food item. I can smoke them or grill them. They make an awesome BBQ option and roasted ribs are simply delicious! The thing which makes them so absolutely yummy is how you marinate them. If your marinade is good, then your ribs definitely turn out delicious irrespective of how you cook them.

Marinating Ribs for Smoking

I have this lovely tried and tested recipe for marinating ribs for smoking them. Although many people don’t marinate their ribs for smoking, I have always found that marinating is the best way of having the tastiest smoking hot ribs!

Ingredients of the Marinade:

  • 12 small sized ribsribpic
  • 1 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 sweet onion, large and diced
  • 1 tbsp salt
  • 1 tbsp paprika
  • 1 cup Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp bay leaves, crushed
  • 12 oz beer
  • BBQ sauce, any of your choice

Method for Preparing the Marinade:

Combine all the ingredients together in a sauce pan. Heat and bring it to a boil. Turn down the heat to low and let the mixture simmer for 10 to 15 minutes. Let the mixture cool down to room temperature before marinating the ribs.

Marinate the ribs overnight by placing them in a Ziploc bag. Put the ribs in the fridge overnight. Smoke them the next day according to your usual method.

 

Marinating Ribs for Grilling

Ingredients for the Marinade:rrees

  • 1 cup honey
  • 3 tbsp sherry
  • 1/3 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp crushed red pepper

Method of Preparing the Marinade:

Mix together all the ingredients in a bowl. Before applying the marinade to the ribs, bring he ribs to a boil and let them simmer until they are half cooked. Cool down the ribs and pat them dry. Pour the marinade on the ribs and set them aside for 4 to 6 hours. Take out your grill pan and grill them according to your likeness.

 

Marinating Ribs for BBQ

Ingredients of the Marinade:phpthumb_generated_thumbnail

  • ½ cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 3 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp salt

Method of Preparing the Marinade:

Mix together all the ingredients properly. Pour them over the ribs and marinate them overnight. Make sure that you lace the ribs in a Ziploc bag and put them in the refrigerator. Put them over the counter and let them come down to the room temperature before preparing the BBQ.

 

Marinating Ribs for Roast

Ingredients of the Marinade: roasted_beef_short_ribs

  • ½ cup molasses
  • 1 cup strongly brewed coffee
  • ½ cup red wine vinegar
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • ¼ cup Dijon mustard
  • 1 tbsp hot sauce
  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp shallot

Method of Preparing the Marinade:

Combine all the ingredients in a saucepan. Bring the mixture to a boil and let it simmer for 10 minutes. Let the mixture cool down to room temperature. Pour the prepared marinade over the ribs, cover and out the in the fridge overnight. You can roast them according to your own method the next day.
