Skin chafing occurs when there is constant rubbing of the skin against the skin itself or clothing. Red patches form due to this and the most affected areas are the inner thighs and underarms. These patches can be irritating, and lead to dark skin formation.
Here are some remedies to relieve the pain of skin chafing:
Apply any one of the following – petroleum jelly, olive oil, baby oil, almond oil, aloe vera gel, vitamin E cream, or lavender oil to the affected area.
Apply talcum powder at these regions whenever you change your outfit.
Wrap ice cubes in a towel and place on the affected areas for 5 minutes to relieve the pain.
Mix a cup of oatmeal powder in a bathtub filled with warm water. Soak in this for 30 minutes, and rinse your body with lukewarm water. Pat dry the skin with a soft towel then.
Mix one part of baking soda in 3 parts of water. Add a few drops of lavender oil to this mixture and apply on the areas for 5 minutes. Rinse off with cool water.
Make a turmeric paste with water and turmeric, and apply to the affected areas. Leave it on for 30 minutes and wash off with cool water.
When you exercise, change clothes immediately as chafed skin get more irritated by damp cloth.
Water and Good Hydration
Drink a lot of water to keep the skin hydrated, and loses weight to prevent skin friction due to fat.
