The skin tends to get very itchy during pregnancy on most women as the blood supply increases in the body. Other factors that may cause it are hormonal changes and weight gain. Most of the body’s skin is stretching, mainly from the abdomen, and the skin tends to feel uncomfortable. Itching may increase during the night, and that leads to staying up most of the night. In order for you to treat your skin during pregnancy, you can try these remedies to abstain from itchiness:

  • Apply a moisturizer and lotion on your body regularly. This will soothe the inflamed skin.

  • Wear clothes that are loosely fitted so that your skin doesn’t get irritated.

  • Wear clothing made from natural fibers, like cotton. This allows the skin to breathe.

  • Consume vitamin K supplements, as it aids in blood clotting and good blood flow internally.

  • Soak yourself in a warm bath. Add a cup of oatmeal to the tub and lay there for 30 minutes. Oatmeal soothes irritated skin and leads to less itchiness.

  • You can use ice on the irritated or burning skin parts.

  • Soak a small towel in cool water, and gently rub it over your belly and breasts to cure the itch on these parts.

  • Applying aloe vera to the inflamed areas of the skin can help in soothing.

  • You can make a paste of baking soda and water, and apply it to the itchy skin.

  • Stay away from hot showers as that will aggravate the skins itch.

  • Drink at least 10 glasses of water to increase skin hydration.
