A person normally burps after a heavy meal, when the body releases air from the mouth that was swallowed as they ate or drank. But to master burping on command is a fun way to gross out your friends! It is also a good way to release gas trapped in the digestive tract to remove congestion and the feeling of bloating.

Here are some ways to make yourself burp:

Drink Carbonated Sodas

The best way to burp is by consuming a carbonated beverage. When you drink sparkling water, soda, or other drinks that are carbonated (with bubbly gases), you are sure to burp, as the gas buildup in the stomach triggers the burp to release. Drink the beverage fast to swallow more air, and if you drink with a straw, the faster you will burp.

Change Position

Changing your position will make air pressure in your stomach and it will force this air upwards. So if you are standing, sit down, or f you are seated, stand up. You can exercise to create a burp too, like jog or walk to force the gas out.

Trigger Your Gag Reflex

This may lead to vomiting, so keep this as your last option. But if you lightly touch your soft palate with your finger or toothbrush, you may release the air out of your stomach.

Breathe in Forcefully

Suck air in your mouth and expand your jaws and throat as you do it. You will feel an air bubble forming in your throat. When this happens, block the front of the mouth with the tongue and touch it with the top of your mouth. Release the air then by lowering the tongue and parting the lips. This releases a burp, although it takes practice to do this.

Close the Air at the Back of Throat

By closing the airway at the back of the throat and pushing it as you exhale, a burp can be formed. This creates a pressure on the stomach and pushes the gases out.

Swallow Air

Exhale all the air out of your lungs, and then breathe in deeply. Hold the air in deeply for as long as you can. Exhale and then inhale air again. Do this by pinching your nose.
