Clogged ears is an annoying condition, which arises when there is a blockage in the ear canal. The congestion can be experienced in the form of sinus problems, dizziness, colds, and allergies. You feel like popping your ear to be able to hear again, and feel like mucus or some liquid is stuck in your ear passage. Overall, it is irritating and highly annoying.

To relieve ear congestion, there are some techniques you can try at home if the congestion is caused by earwax, air pressure, or infection. If these tips don’t help, consult a doctor to find out the problem.

Valsalva Maneuver

This is a form of small exercise you can try at home to open up your clogged ear. Simply, close your mouth and pinch your nostrils with your fingers. Take a deep breath and blow air from your nose to remove air pressure from the ears.

Chew Gum

Chewing gum aids in removing air pressure from the ears as well. Take one or two strips of any gum and chew for a few minutes to let your ears unclog.

Warm Compress

A great natural healer for clogged ears is placing a warm compress over it. This can be done by placing a warm washcloth soaked in warm water over the ear. Don’t forget to wring it before you place it! Leave it on for 10 minutes to let the ear relax.

Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple cider vinegar destroys bacterial ear infections that clog the ear. Mix alcohol with apple cider vinegar, and lie down on your side. With a dropper, put a few drops of it into the ear that is clogged. Place a cotton ball in the ear and remain in this position for a few minutes. Use a cotton bud to get rid of the earwax then.

Steam

By inhaling steam, you can unclog ears as well. Steam unlocks the mucus buildup ad relives any pain in the ear. Over a pot of boiling water, bend your head covered with a towel. Add a few drops of lavender oil or tea tree oil for relief. You can also take a hot steamy shower.

Saline Nasal Rinse

Nasal passages are linked to ears, and unclogging an ear is done with saline rinse in the nasal passage. It aids in sinuses, infections, colds, and inflamed nasal passage. You can use an over-the-counter saline nasal medication, or gargle with saline solution, by mixing warm water with a teaspoon of salt, lemon, and honey.

Hydrogen Peroxide

You can also use hydrogen peroxide in your ears for relief. Mix it with water and drop in your ears then. Let it stay for a few minutes, and then remove with a cotton bud.
